Please indulge me whilst I spend a few moments talking about my mother, and I hope it makes you think about yours for a few minutes too.
If it weren’t for my mother I would not be the strong woman I am today! She has taught me so much unknowingly over the years. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t life changing incidents or moments when I thought wow I’m going to remember that for the rest of my life, but I find myself quoting her when I least expect to and I have realized that subliminally she has helped to sculpt me into the person I have become.
At 86 she still has her hair done every week and her nails done every 2 weeks. When she goes on holiday she has a tan and other treatments to help her feel her best. She is constantly buying new clothes and stays current (much to my fathers annoyance!). At Colour Me Beautiful we talk about the elements of the well dressed woman. Firstly she knows her colours and what shapes and styles are best for her. She is current, appropriate and relevant. My mother is all of these.
She had her colours done over 20 years ago and has stayed true to her colours and her style throughout that time. I feel honoured to have been able to teach other women the importance of these elements and all I can hope is that at 86 they are still women who have the confidence to dress well and still enjoy life.
So here’s a big THANK YOU to all the mothers out there who may feel sometimes that they aren’t making a difference, but time will show that they are the all important ones in our lives,
Love you Mum!!
